Great Questions Answered About Rescue Donations

Since my campaign to rescue Fancy started, I have been asked several questions.  I think they are worth sharing along with my answers.

Why didn't you just rescue a horse here? There are tons of horses here that need a home.
Very true! I would rescue everyone if I could.  The reason I chose Fancy Girl was simple.  Her spirit spoke to me with her gait and demeanor.  I don't know how else to explain it.  Everyone has a breed they love and the Tennessee Walking Horse is my breed.  Many of the horses locally are Quarter Horses. I don't have the resources to train and re-home a Quarter Horse.

Are you rescuing this horse to keep for yourself?
I am going to get her healthy, trained and find her a good home.

Why should anyone help you with training fees? Isn't that the cost of horse ownership?
It is the cost of horse ownership if you choose to breed and start young horses.  I am not experienced enough to train on my own.  Also, I would NEVER breed.  Fancy is a young horse that got dumped because she doesn't have full training.  There is NO WAY I would take her trail riding without training under her belt. It would be completely dangerous for me and her.  My 2 horses were purchased by me because of their experience. I paid for horses that match my skills.  Fancy doesn't match my skills right now but my goal is to see that she gets the proper training.  It is difficult to re-home a young, green horse.  No one wants them. OVER BREEDING IS THE MAIN ISSUE HERE.

Why are you asking for help with horse care needs?
No one understands the cost of a horse until they have one living on their property. Hands down!  Horses can live up to 30 years and Fancy will most likely out live me.  I am just asking for help as she gets back on her feet.  Not a lifetime commitment from others but it will be for me or her new owner.

These are all great, valid questions and I have enjoyed sharing my answers to them.

  1. I loved Fancy's gait too. I don't even know of such things but it was very noticeable that there is something special about her! Knowing your big soft heart it will be hard for you to part with her but if you find the right owner I imagine it will be very fulfilling for everyone. XO
